Suspension works great in the rocks and does not kick back or feel soft when going fast down hill. Bike is so much better than stock suspension for my gear weight. Corners better, flys straight and lands perfect when getting 3 - 4ft of air off a jump. Before it was like a pogo-stick with stock suspension. Slavens racing was spot on for recommendations. Thank you for making me a happy Husaberg owner.

Re: Suspension Database...Could you please add your setup?

Values in "( )" are "standard" setting in manual.

Date = Sept 23, 2011
Type of bike = FE450
Year of bike = 2010
Weight of Rider = 185lbs/87kg nekkid, + approx. 7kgs with all gear, fanny pack and camelback.
Type of riding you do = 90% enduro 1st-3rd gear, standing, head low/butt back Ryno z-style (or trying to).
Location = Sweden
How you like your suspension to feel = compliant. Soft in rocks, hold up in whoops, firm to handle well in fast turns.
Fast or slow rider (be honest) = medium

Bike and Rider Sag Settings:
Front bike sag (without rider) = N/A
Front rider sag = N/A
Rear bike sag (without rider) = N/A
Rear rider sag = 98-100mm (105)

Type of Forks = open cartridge
Hight of mounting = 5mm/bottom line
Fork spring rate = 4.6N/mm (4.4)
Turns of Pre load (from full off) = 0
Fork oil weight and brand (if known) = Shell Advance 5wt
Fork oil air gap ( to top of fork) = 115mm (110)
New or old oil (recently changed??) = recently flushed and changed
Fork rebound clicker = 21 (20)
Fork Compression clicker = 22 (22)
Fork Valving (Stock or Revalved) = stock

Type of Shock = N/A
Shock spring rate = 80N/mm (72)
Pre load (-mm from full length) = N/A
Shock (high speed.) setting = 1.0 (1.5)
Shock (low speed.) setting = 18 (20)
Shock rebound (lower screw) setting = 22 (24)
Shock Valving (Stock or Revalved) = stock

Other conditions, change from above settings:
MX: front C:20, rear C:7
Slow/slippery/big rocks: front C:29 R: 24, rear C:24 R:22 (same)

Changed from 22mm to 19mm clamps, Renthal Fatbar CR-Hi in front/forward position.

Stock settings with stock springs were off, did lots of strange things. Stock settings with new springs and broken in and flushed forks were better, but extreme pushing of front end entering and exiting corners even when hanging over bars. Tilting the bike forward by increasing the rear high-speed compression, going to 100mm of rider sag and changing to 19mm clamps and it all comes together: entering turns, staying in turns (flat/bermed/smooth/bumpy), exiting turns, stable at speed (plans for stabiliser cancelled).
Previous bikes Sherco 4.5i and GasGas EC300 had fantastic handling, so the contrast to the new bike was plenty obvious.

One happy camper now! :bounce3:

will come back and edit as I get it measured up.

Shock (high speed.) setting = 1.5 turns
Shock (low speed.) setting = 25
Shock rebound (lower screw) setting = 18
Shock Valving (Stock or Revalved) = race tech gold

Weight bias 48.5% front and 51.5% rear
bike weight around 133kg full tank ready to ride

Measurement on the preload are hard to measure exactly because my bike has some top out springs front and rear.

What I did to adjust the preload on front was by fitting the spring, then fully extend the fork (compressing the
top out spring) measure the gap which was about 15mm i then put in it a 16mm of packing. if i did not fill this gap the spring would get lose when the forks toped out and created a harsh feeling when landing, example from a wheely.

On the shock i put on the new spring on and measured its length 264mm. I then put one turn preload on it and it shrunk to about 262 i then put two more turns of preload on it and the spring was still 262mm (because of the top out spring) i then put the shock back on the bike. then with the bike on the stand i went to check the spring and with the weight of the rear wheel on the shock the spring was lose. so i pushed the swingarm down (to compress the top out spring) and turned the preload collar till the spring was tight and let go. and measured the spring length. and i was 261.5mm with the bike on the stand.

Don't know if the above procedure are correct for adjusting preload on a bike with top out springs but the bike is amazing now.
Very plush, stable and inspires confident. much better than it was with 0.49kg front springs and compression @15
clicks and a race tech p30 spring (9.5/11.5kg) and compression @15 clicks

It brakes much better and i have more traction at the rear and if i make a mistake (have a oshit moment) it is much easier to correct and keep going. Rocks and ruts don't unsettle the bike as it did before when crossing or hitting them.

And know the only thing to do is beef up the fork rebound. Don't like being at 10 clicks

Regards

The difference with the new suspension on my bike is unbelievable. I've never ridden a bike that is as plush as mine. Rolling over rocks in a non issue and half the time I don't feel anything up front, it's that plush and rolls over anything in its way. The bike has never turned so well and the rear end tends to stay put. George did a fantastic job and was so great to deal with. I would imagine if I were soley racing big desert races I would have him stiffen things up a bit since the bike is setup for a softer/plusher ride.. I think we spent an hour on the phone talking about what I liked in a suspension. I provided the fork springs for the job and purchased the spring and shock bladder from him and my grand total was $700 for it all, when I handed him cash, he said let's do $670...

I'm stoked....
