Supermoto Wheel Kit 05 fe 650??

I'm considering a Supermoto wheel setup for my 05 fe 650. The Excel's are pricey, but the Warp9 wheels come complete and are more affordable. Anybody have an opinion of the qualify of Warp9?

Also, Cyclegear advises that I need 17x3.5 front and 17x4.25 rear, but they had some question re tire size. Any thoughts on this?

Isn't there also a caliper mount adapter that is required, and where would I find that?

I don't mind giving up low end for the motor to be happy.

Tks.

Steve

p.s. - 'Idle' has recommended dual sports on a set of stock rims - sounds like a good idea to me.

Warp9 wheels are decent quality. You won't have issues. I would for sure use the 4.25 on the rear. A 5.0 will fit but it is tight and the chain usually rubs the tire.

Usually with a 4.25 rear you would run a 150 section width tire. You mention a caliper adapter. You would only need an adapter if you run a larger front brake disc. Not a bad idea especially if you are running a supermoto setup and can utilize the better braking that those tires will afford.

Warp9's supermoto setups used to come with an oversized front rotor and the required caliper adapter. Check their website or call them directly. They are good to deal with. I would buy right from them instead of using Cycle Gear.

Thanks. I think I'm going to go with a set of Warp9 stock wheel/tire size in a street-biased dual sport tire design.

My bike currently has a 15t front sprocket and 48t rear for dirt. I'm thinking of going to a 40t in the rear with my dual sports.

On my old Husky 610, I ran a 38 tooth on the SM wheel with a correct length non-o ring chain for more tire clearance. When I swapped with the dirt wheelset, I'd swap chains as well, with an o-ring cut to fit the 47 tooth I ran on the dirt wheel.

Tourist, thanks; and, I decided to go with it from one of their distributors SUPERMOTO COMPLETE CONVERSION KIT

I went with Pilot Power's, a D.I.D. ERT2 chain, so my final price came to $1313 delivered to my door.

I did confirm with Warp9 directly that they had an adapter for my 2005 FE 650. I was assured they did - so we'll see.

It's supposed to be here Tuesday.
