Supermoto to enduro

Bought a set of wheels wich originally came from a KTM 525, they fit perfect only the spokes from the front wheel touch the brake caliper.

Is it possible to lace (spelling?) the wheel out of center for like 8mm or something or will this mess up the handling completely?

What are my other options? Can't put a enduro caliper on it, since the fork bottom is set up for the radial caliper, I have a complete front end form a 2002 bike, but that uses the 20mm axle instead of the 26 mm axle this wheel has.

Any tips are greatly appreciated, Christof.

heck, i'd just take the caliper off altogether and save some weight. its really not effective without a rotor on the wheel
what is so different about the caliper that it hits the spokes? are the sm forks that different?
doesn't somebody make an adapter for the old wheels to the new or a change of bearings?

If there is a kit out there to make my old wheels fit the 26mm axle, or a kit that let's you use the enduro caliper on the radial fork bottom I would be a very happy man!

Christof.

check the dimensions of the 20mm wheel bearings and see if the only difference is the id. if so, swap bearings and use your other front end.

Bearings look to be completely different od sizes.

Does there exist a kit to us a 20mm axle with a 26mm wheel? If not I'l have a sleeve machined to fit inside the 26mm hub wich will make it 20mm.

Does the 2002 triple clamps fit in the 2008 frame?

You could fabricate 2 spacers. About 6mm thick will do the trick. (it's been done n' tested on a -06 FS)
1 spacer for for the wheel, which puts the wheel slightly off center and 1 spacer for the brake disc so it lines up in the brake caliper again.

Steering geometry will be altered but for play riding it doesn't matter.
Because of that I wouldn't do this change if I was going racing but then again I wouldn't use the FS brake disc if I was racing in the woods so...

Oh, almost forgot... Don't forget to loosen the forks compression clicker, otherwise you'll get punished by the fork.

Thanks for the tip.

I still have a 2002 rolling chassis without a motor, I'm thinking of putting these forks into the 2008 frame, I could then set the forks up for enduro and also use a enduro braking caliper since these forks have non radial fork bottoms.
Does this sound like a good idea or are the 2008 front forks better quality forks?
