I've just received my new bike with the small Supermoto tank. All is well apart from one thing.. It's yellow... I never liked yellow. Would it be possible to spraypaint the tank or would this look like **** after a while?

Can you post some pics of the tank on and off the bike? I want one but not sure I would like a yellow tank either.

Thanks,

Mike

Which tank do you mean when you say small supermoto tank???

This one I guess!?

I don't think painting it is an option, the plastic is "fat" (hard to get paint to stick) and I what I've learned it also breathes gas fumes. There are decals with lots of small holes in them menat to be used on tanks. See if you can get some of those.

painting your tank is not a problem, I'm going to paint mine black when it turns up (6 weeks I'm in OZ) you will have to take it to a smash repair shop as it will need to be done in 2pack and require special treatment prior to paint. the tanks are maid of polypropylene .same as most car bumpers.
hope this helps

Yes, that's the one. Stickers is not an option as I would still see the yellow. I don't like yellow ;)

I'll hear with some car sprayers. Cheers.

I had my yellow tank painted black a couple of weeks ago. The previous owner had spray painted it black to match the plastics using rattle cans, which obviously looked a mess as most of it peeled off. I stripped of the black and was going to epoxy the outside before taking it for two-pack painting as I was concerned about the tank being porous. When I took the tank to the paint shop to discuss this, the chap told me not to worry about epoxy as he would spray a sealer and then use the car bumper type paint.
I have the tank back now and have a smooth finish, it looks good although I am still concerned about the paint lifting from underneath. I haven’t used the bike much since its return but for the time being I drain the tank after use just to be safe.

Regards,
Mark

does anybody have a pic of one of these actually on a bike from the side and behind so you can see how wide it is?

The pictures are stupidly big. Can someone edit my post?

The Norwegian importer told me today that black 7,5l tanks will be available in 08. :D
