Supermoto rims

Hi guys and girls
I am new here and also new to Husabergs. I bought an 03 fe400e in January which had been stood for 6 years, so I stripped it and put in new bearings etc.
I bought a set of ktm Behr supermoto wheels recently and tried to fit them today, when putting on the back wheel it seems too wide, and if the sprocket sits in the chain guide the brake disc hits the rear caliper lug.
What I want to know is, am I missing something here, do I have to remove the chain guide or try and relocate the rear caliper, or is it that I have bought the wrong set of wheels.
I was told that all ktm supermoto wheels would fit as long as the spindle size was the same. But I'm thinking that may not have been entirely true.
Thanks
Ryan.

I was looking at the parts book and was interested to see that Husaberg have a cush drive on there SM hub. Can you not do a simple measure the distance from sprocket to disk on the 2 hubs, the if SM is wider then you can't fit it.
The sprocket on the hub has to line up with the front sprocket, so line that up and see if the tyre/rim is central with the bike, and look see if you can relocate the caliper.

If you give Talon a shout they tend to have this sort of info to hand as they supply hubs to fit bikes.

I fit a 5" behr wheel on my 03 FE400e. It is a pain to put it on, you have to remove the guide to put it on. If you leave it off, you will have a little more flexibility for the chain adjustment.

What size rim do you have? A 5" is going to be tight as mentioned.
The wheel spacers may be too big?

Thanks for that guys.
I think it's a 5" rim, not entirely sure though. I will have a check later on.

5in will fit ok ! with or with out crush drive . my rear is from ktm smr 08 . it just takes time to find the knack !! the caliper is the thing that gets in the way ! once youve got the knack its still hard work !!! lol . best not to run a o.ring ! just a standard chain will give you better clearance ( tyre / chain ) is this for road or racing ??

The rim was a 5.5" I think, I took the sprocket carrier off and fitted the wheel only to find it had a nasty buckle, fortunately the guy I bought them off has taken them back and refunded me, so now I have bought some different wheels, with a 4.25 rear so all should be good.
Cheers

bit of a bump but thought i'd mention this for future reference. i used to run a 5 inch rear rim on a 525exc. the easiest way to fit it was bring the rear wheel high, almost touching the underside of the rear fender. i'd then lean the rear wheel over a bit toward the right (e.g. the disc side of the swingarm) and lower it around the caliper. as i eased it down, i'd then lean the wheel toward the sprocket side and it would usually just touch the caliper on the way through. i'd put a rag on the caliper to avoid scratching the rim.

in retrospect i should have just gone a 4.25 inch rim and had easier fitment.
