new husaberg owner here.finding this site superb and very informative.the berg in question is a 2003 fc550 .havent had it long and it has sprung an oil leak from clutch cover[above the kick start] no problem i thought untill went to drain the oil.the sump plug head is completely rounded off.still no problem i thought but i cannot budge it.going to try some heat on it tom morrow ,just wondered if anyone else has had this problem and how long i can use heat for.going to try it with the engine in otherwise it will have to come out for better access.not the best start for a newie to husaberg.
 
i don't think you've gt a chance! i would get an engneer to weld something in thereand thremove it that way. they are an absolute sod!

You can weld a nut onto the existing plug in situ, use a fairly large, say 16mm nut and weld weld the inside of the nut to the plug.In this manner you can then use your 24mm spanner to undo it - That will do the trick if you can weld ok.
Oh and it helps if you quench the nut/plug with cold water immediately after you finish the weld.

Earlier models had an alloy plug which is notorious for rounding off. With some judicious filing you may get it down to size to be able to tap a 12, or 11 mm over the original 13 mm hex. Only use 6 point sockets. Replacements are all stell now, but nevertheless, use a torque wrench and a 6 pint socket and no problems in the future.

Always Smear Some Kind Of Anti Sieze Compound On The Threads,Some Thing Like Copper Slip.
My VOR Was Always Doing That To Both The Drain And Filler Plugs.
Doesnt Need To Be Much But Enough To Stop It From Getting Tight To Remove With Exspansion/Contraction

Yep same thing happened to me.
Got it off with a chisel and a couple of sharp blows with hammer.
It didn't completely destroy it but it isn't pretty.
I filed the remaining metal square to fit a 11mm spanner until I can get a new one.
If you use this method be very careful - they are damn soft!!!!

sump plug now removed.borrowed a bolt grip set from a friend.didnt think it would work but 30seconds later plug was loose.i strongly reccomend these kits as was sure i was going to have to get a nut welded on.thanks for all the advice .is there anywhere on the site that give torque values for bergs.just need the basics like axle pinch bolts ,front and rear wheel,triple clamps etc.thanks again nice to know there is someone out there
 
For the torque values check out page nine of the '03 Owners Manual.

I experienced the sump plug to be stuck although it was
tightened with the correct torque of 12nM!

My fix:
Imposed a modified M12 nut (wrench size 19mm) on the
original 13mm bolt and brazed it.
Use a copper seal instead of the aluminum one.
