I just ordered a 2007 FE650E and need to order some oil (we gotta import essential stuff out in West Africa). What's the manufacturer's recommendation? Our average temp is 30 Celcius. Ridden hard what's the change intervall? Thanks, Mark

Hi Afroberg,

I suspect no reply means that people reckon you could do a search. Numerous threads on oil here.

I, along with many others use Caltex/Chevron Delo 400.

Change it often, my 98 with lesser capacity gets fresh oil every 5 hours or so with no lube problems since I switched from Mobil 1 4T some hundreds of hours ago.

Enjoy the 07 650, I plan on one next year.

Hi Afroberg,

Silkolene Pro 4 is a good one works well at high temp our team used it for years at the I.O.M. TT and short circuit racing excellent results not one engine failure.

Sparks.

I use Delo400 and sometimes synthetic motor oil. Whatever oil you use just change it frequently, like every 5-8 engine hours and you motor should be happy.

6000 miles and 230 engine hours on the my bike and all is well.

other than delo 400 maybe shell ( i think) rotella
both are great heavy duty oils that are used in simi trucks and heavy equipment such as bull dozers. excavators and mining equipment. The change interville I go for in dusty Nevada desert conditions is max 250 miles. Normally 150 miles if I can get home or to a good place to dump the oil and celan the filter. Remember you got just shy of 1 quart.

I've used Shell Rotella, Chevron Delo 400, and Amsoil and I'm back to Chevron Delo 400... I figure I'll stick to the Diesel oils until they change to a formulation we can't use in bikes, when ever that is...
