Street Legal FE in California??

I currently have a Husqvarna TE 300 that I love riding everywhere in California. Up in the woods, around the curvy highways in the mountains, out on my ranch in the valley, up through the Lake Tahoe area, etc... I am so grateful that I have a plated enduro/woods bike that I can take to the pavement without worrying about any trouble from anyone. I have heard a lot of great things about the newer Husaberg FE's and I would love to purchase one but I have three reservations about the bike. One, it doesn't have a kick start and I travel a hundred miles back into the woods of the Sierra Nevada Mountains... Two, are there plans to make the fuel tank any bigger or is there an after market product I'm not aware of... And Three (and most importantly) does Husaberg have legimate plans to make this bike street legal from the dealer out of California??? I believe now all they would have to do is put some blinkers on it and get the engine cleared by the state to be street legal. I'm sure that will cost a lot, but the amount of potential sales you have waiting in our great and large state would far outweigh that I believe. Once you get a number of guys riding this bike, word will get out and the sales would steamroll over the years I think. I know of a lot of friends like me who are ready for a new bike with good fuel injection and flickability like the Husaberg has. Thanks and I hope to be on a 2011 'Berg with a shiny new metal plate on the back tearing it up around our beautiful outdoors...

The 'official gossip' is that the 2011 models will be certified 50 state street legal. I think the release time to showroom floor someone said was June this year. The 2010 models are already out, but are not Calif. street legal - just green sticker?

That is GRRRRRRRRRRREAT to here man!!!! So is "official" gossip a little better than the run of the mill type? ;) Is this coming from someone inside or connected to the company?? If so, I am going to hold off on grabbing one and wait just a bit... Is the normal release of these bikes in June? I'm not familiar with their marketing or model year calendar? Thanks for the word and all the help. Take care...

G'day mrcox and welcome ! Check out the replacement subframe fuel tank thread also search the site as there are afew options for increasing your fuel capacity. As far as having no kick starter goes there hasn't been any real issues there are also some good posts on that subject.

It is what I have heard from a dealer who said it as if it was fact.

I said it was "gossip" because I didn't hear it from an official Husaberg rep. Maybe I shouldn't have used the word 'official'.

Nah, I think "official gossip" is a perfect description. Thanks for the help and I'll keep my fingers crossed...

Right on Scott, thanks for the official word!!! Are there only going to be FE and FX's for North America again or will there be an FS too?

Dale

The FS570 will be coming to NA 100% for sure so we will have 2 street legal Bergs.

AFAIK, the rest of the line up is BNG for 2011.

Does that mean that the 2011 FE390 will also be street legal in California and everywhere else???

There is a great new Husaberg Dealer in Moorpark, California. Tri County Power Sports sells Husabergs and Husqvarna's. Ask for Vince, he is a former KTM specialist. They are receiving the New FE570 next week. Ca. Street Legal and they are getting the new FS570 Supermoto too.

That is a little closer to my house. Need to have my ecu reflashed and it is running lean. Do they do good work there? at Tri county in Moorpark.

Yea, thanks Vince, one of those 570s already has my name on it!

They do great work. Two Techs trained by Husaberg, and an owner who rides a FX450.
Hey KA, what did you think?
Yea Vince, drove the bike home in the pickup yesterday (2.5 hours) and only managed a couple of quick
20 minute heat cycles, up the valley and back, through the gears!! So far, its great. Strange to see all the "legal"
gear on it, but simple mods will make it very dirt worthy. I'll post a pic soon. KA

PS. Thanks again to all you guys at Tri-County Motorsports for your efforts, getting me on this bike!!
