Stock jets on FS650

Hi people,

I am having trouble starting my '02 fs650.
I've tried all in the hard start guide and all seems to tie up.
I have the fuel/air mixture screw 1 1/2 out and it tried to fire! but the only way I could get it to pick so it would tickover is to increase the ticker over until it fired and ran but at about 2500-3000 RPM(est).

I've cleaned and checked the carb and all looks ok. but I was wondering about the pilot jet as it is a 35 and the manual says it should be 40.

The jet sizes are:
MJ 190
Pilot 35
Start 45
Needle is K51 with clip 3 from the thick end

Not knowing much about carburation can someone help out?

Cheers
p.s. PHM40

Hi Fish,
the jetting seems to be stock (if the needle jet is DR 272) except for the
pilot jet wich should be 40 as you wrote. I would not change back the 35
pilot to 40. Low/midrange throttle response is much better using the 35
pilot. I use this jeting and the bike starts and performs awesome...

If you checked and cleaned the carb I guess the jetting isn't the major
problem. I only experienced some starting problems when the idle speed
(screw) and/or the air mixture screw were not properly set.

If the bike won't idle correct there's a good chance that some debris is still
in the carb or the intake system is leaky. To make sure the bike doesn't
"breath bad air" check out the connections intake-port/intake-manifold/carburettor.

Hope this helps,
regards Maddel
