Anybody know of a premanufactured step seat for Husabergs? I Have ridden a couple of bikes with them, and although I think they look goofy, I like how they work.

The factory guys take a tall seat, strip off the cover, install a strip of firmer foam on top of the std tall seat, which firms it up and increases their ability to move forward. You could do the same, only use a short piece from the rear of the seat to where ever you wanted the step to begin. Also gives you the opportunity to 'tune' the seat.

I know Guts Racing sells step seats for many brands. I do not see how they could not make a custom one for a Husaberg. I also have seen Heath Voss' mechanics shave a seat form one day for him and it seems that all you need is a long sharp blade and a bit of patience. Mounting the cover might be a bit tricky, but otherwise it is definitely possible to DIY.

Thanks guys. I was hoping for a premade one, so that I could have two seats and compare them back to back. But in an effort to save money, I may just order another seat cover and do as Fry says.

Any good tips on glueing the seat to the base in the area of the dzus fastener at the rear of the seat? It was a bit of a pain on the tall foam, and will be even worse with another inch of foam.

Gorilla foam glue. It is not only good to glue foam, but it is also a glue that... foams. You'll see.

When I recover a seat, I use contact cement along all the edges to help the staples and also around the seat bolt. Then I leave it sit for a couple days with a carpenters clamp to make sure the cover is bonded to the base properly before I install the insert. Works like a charm. and if the cover separates, gloop in more glue and reclamp.

I've done some searching for this a bit and have come up empty handed. Love the step seat on the KTM SMR and would love to have one for the berg... the 550 has a tendency to get out from under me...

Let me know if you find something either stock or custom - would be highly interested.

I will just make my own, it is easy enough. I need to replace my seatcover soon as I have worn thru the cover at the lowere front edge (against the tank). I have spare seat foam. I will make a sloping wedge beginning just forward of the dzus cutout and slope of to 1" thick at about 8" lenght, then slope down at 1:1.

I see magnussum (UHE member) has a photo of Brorne's Sweden 2007 WEC bike with a step seat in his gallery.

I got hold of a enduro engineering seat foam for their ktm seats and I reshaped
the foam with horse file to fit onto the husaberg pan one of the benefits was that the
rear of the seat was raised not as drastic as Björnes bike but half in between stock seat
and that Björnes I do like the raised rear it gives the butt a place to hold onto on those nasty hill climbs one other benefit that I have noticed is that in a turn it holds your body
from sliding rearward
I did not use OE seat cover instead I took the seat upholstery shop where they had
gripper seat material ( the medium grip ) they just sewed a pocket for the front and
stapled the rest

good luck with the project you will like the improvement VIKING
