On my FE570 offroad I love my steering damper (Öhlins S2).
On my FE570 motard/ice a steering damper feels like it works against me so I have none.

Depends on you, your setup, the bike and what you drive I guess?

The pre-09 enduro bikes IMO need them for speeds on tarmac above 50mph or so. They have a slight skake.
I fit the scotts damper to mine but only like it barely on at about 6 clicks. And pretty much leave it there for everything, on or off road.

I get no problem off road well to be honest if your 50 plus off road your not there for long mines more about the tarmac has slight shake I wondered if damper help much

What bike do you have phillboy?
My 05 to 07 enduros benefitted on the street 50+
Benefits in the sand at high speed.
And I like the slightly added stability in all other general dirt trails.
Like I said. Around 6 clicks for me but at a full affect. I dont like the partial radius setting.
And I have turned it up a few clicks for street, but usually leave it in its sweet spot.

I have a steering damper on my 570 as well, its great and adjustable help kill head shake and tank slaps when your ripping.

can usually get rid of headshake by lowering rear or raising front (dropping tubes) to get rid of "stinkbug" posture

I knew I should have went flush with the tubes.
But then again I liked how it turned at a few mil up..
