hi;
i think dampener's main function is stop the bars from ripping out of your hands. i had a bad crash [70mph] and bent the dampeners stem and caused the unit to leak. i got busted up a little but i think i would have been a lot worse if i didnt have a dampener. dont leave home without it.
i like the scotts because it has more adjustablity, more circuits and now they have a 'remote' mount for husabergs. the cost is like buying cheap gear or good gear...you figure out how much your safety is worth.
wrt the bar vibrations, i have heard that using 'bark busters' ,or the like,
makes the bars stiffer and transfers more vibraion.
wrt grips, i like serfas dual compound. there are on all my bikes.

I've got both Scotts and GPR's on different bikes and have tried swapping them around to see if I could tell a difference. I don't really know why, but I prefer the way the GPR feels. In my case, it just seems to do a better job of keeping the bike in a straight line after hitting something big a speed. Can't tell a difference in the tight stuff, but out in the fast desert, my first choice is the GPR, though both function well.

Could just be the settings, psychology, whatever. GPR's are a little less money too.

If I decide to complete switch over, I'll post the three Scotts I have in the classifieds.
