First- thanks to those who helped me figure this out. fc501east, joeUSA, and hribman,

Second, for those of you who are not so mechanically inclined and you own a 98 with an e-start (like me) and have never replaced a stator before, understand that if you try to follow the directions in the shop manual for stator replacement and timing you might get very confused. Or not, maybe i am just a melonhead :D

Just remember that instead of the stator and flywheel lining up in the 6:00 position, the 98 with an e-start is set up so that the stator and flywheel line up at about 9:00 just imagine taking the stator and flywheel in the photo from the shop manual and rotating it 90 degrees clockwise and that is how it goes back together.

Now that i look at it it seems so simple- but dang if you are intent on following the manual to a "T" you will get frustrated, at least in regards to the ingnition replacment. they really should have mentioned that the e-start bikes are set up differently. since the manual is mainly written for people who don't know quite what they are doing...

RE: stator replacement

Thanks for sharing Risky, is the bike running now?

Hope you have good luck in the classifieds. Definately a sweet price for the bike.

thanks,
json

Yessss! purrs like a Lion. And I am serious about best offer takes. I had posted in july-Aug and luckily no one bought it because my name would have been mud. it really needed a new cam and some other work that i was not aware of. but now it is all fixed. Roast 'em and Roost'em!

Of course if a buyer comes along, I won't be parting with it till after next weekend because i really need to take it out to Deer Creek to show up my buddies on there TT's and WR's

Awsome forum. Thanks for your work..

Stator replacement

Hi, Jared....

Glad everything ok; Sorry to see you are selling the 'Berg :( .
If I lived a bit closer and wasn't holding out for an '05 in the spring, I'd take you up on the bike!! Ride On!!!!!!!

dont be sorry, I am hooked on the Husaberg- i will only be replacing it with newer technology the name shall stay the same :D

Are you using a '98 shop manual or the '99 from UHE as they changed the stator to mount from the engine case to the side cover between these years.

If you do have access to a '98 shop manual, I don't spose there's any chance you could copy & send it to Json to post it on the site, could ya?? Mine is same bike & the right manual sure would be nice. 8) :D

Stator repl.

Hi, Brad....
Difficulty was caused by manual. Husaberg used an fc kickstart-only motor for illustration, and riskys' '98 is an e-start model. The stator is rotated about 90 deg. clockwise for mounting in case, along with hole in case for electrical wiring, with alignment description differing by that much in trying to tell one how to align the stator and flywheel.

Yep, mine is the 1998 glossy, yellow covered shop manual, and i would be glad to send a copy off to json.

json what do you prefere HQ PDF or HQ jpeg?

everything else aside from the stator replacement and ingnition timing appears to be the same in the shop manual- i mean the engine is the same except the motor shown in the manual is from an FC without an e-start, there is a section in the back about the e-start disassembly and assembly. but it does not adress ignition, stator or timing
