Stator readings.

Hiya everyone.

I've got a big problem with my old -90 FE501 it just won't start.
I've narrowed it down to either the stator or flywheel, but I wan't to test the stator to see if it is faulty or not, so does anyone have the values for for the stator?
I need both resistance and the voltage readings for an working stator, so if anybody has these vaules I'd appreciate an answer.
I know that these vaules was here before but the unfortunate hacker problem deleted the post.... :(

Please help me!

Cheers
Daniel

Daniel,

Refer to the Trouble Shooting - Hard Start Guide at the end of the parts manuals section of the Downloads link.

The basic values of stator resistance are referenced in the stator test text.

Thanks for the tip.

One question though, the vaules do they apply for all models or just newer ones?

It looks like it's the flywheel though, when I removed it the magnets came falling from it... :(

Cheers

Daniel,

I do not know if the 1990 Berg has the same values as in the Guide. Mine (2000) were the same.

Good luck,

Joe

Daniel,

My 91 350 readings were the same as in the book.

Ok, thanks for the info.

My readings are a bit on the low side for the red/black resistance, it's only about 1.7k Ohm unloaded and 22 Ohm for the green/black unloaded.

But all the stators I've tested have been on the low side under 2k Ohm.

Hopefully I'll get to borrow a flywheel from a friend tomorrow so I can test the bike with it :)

Hi Daniel,
Very interesting, I've just received a brand new stator/rotor kit for my 02 501 (re my post) and it has the same readings as yours, so one can assume that your stator is good and they have sent me the wrong one.

Cheers,

Ian
