Starting on the button

Hi All

I really hope you can help me on this as i've been off the road since December and running out of bike budget! My problem first happened when my Cam chain snapped. This is the story so far:

Cam chain snapped
Replaced Cam Chain
Replaced the middle section of the starter gear
Replaced a rocker
Kick start getting struck so replaced the Engagement Sledge
Checked the plug
Checked the timing
Battery Fully charged
The bike at this point will Kick start but wont start on the button, everything seems to turn when the decompressor is pulled in
Checked the valve clearances
Replaced the starter motor

The bike now kicks fine and runs fine, however when i try to start it on the button it seems to turn one rev then fade away, it seems like it gets too compressed, if i put a jump pack on the battery the problem still exists.

Can anyone help me? Pleeeeeease

The BIKE is an FE450, 02 registration

doubtful its a 450 if its an '02, prolly a 400. as berglsmerg implies, converting the autodecomp to a newer style would give good results (there is info on this in the doc), since the earlier design had wear problems and didn't work well.
you also say you replaced the starter motor. what did you use for a replacement.?

470s are often called 450s because folk wanted to use them in SM etc.

Taffy
