Starting after a stall?

Hi all,

I'm having great difficulty starting my bike after stalling it (which I'm doing quite regular). The bike starts easily from cold, starts easily from hot but I keep stalling it pulling off as I'm not used to the clutch. It's then a pig to start.

Is there something I can do to help it start after a stall and is there a reason this happens? The stalling is definitely my own fault and this is the only time I can't start it. Tends to happen at lights or navigating through a tricky off road slow section. Not places I wanna be struggling to start the bike!

An auto clutch might help you not to stall. Mine is an 01 with a delorto so I can't be of much help. Mine seems happy to start hot or cold for now. I love my auto clutch.

Auto clutch seems a bit like knocking a tack in with a sledgehammer. I'm sure I'll get used to the clutch soon enough. It's just I've had many bikes but not one has been any harder to start after a stall than it was after switching it off. Seems weird. Mine is also 01 but I'm not sure what carb it has.

If it has a single throttle cable, it is likely a delorto.. Hmmm I would start by re doing the carb. You can get a kit from a vendor on here. Mine has no problem with hot re starts. I did re do the carb, valves are set, good plug and my stator has been redone. 1 kick every time.

that usually means it's too rich on bottom. turn in the richness screw that's toward the front on the left side about a 1/4 turn clockwise. see if that helps.

When my 501 decided to stall, it was a PITA to restart. Didn't matter what I did to the Dellorto, so I fitted a hotstart and made it easy. Then I fitted an FCR and virtually never used the hotstart since.

I drilled a hole into the intake throat and tapped a thread for the barb for the hose that you can see in the pic. Stuffed a rag down there first and kept the drill and tap greased up too.
