found that the snap ring needs moved off the cage of the clutch to the free wheel outer the bike turns over with the Husaberg starter now . Starter works again . Didn't work since 2002 . Have a 2001 FE 650.

cheers hawk!

so if i have this right, what you are saying is that people are fitting the sprague bearing within the housing and then the locater ring and they miss the groove thats there and push the snap ring past this and just simply crush the bearing against the back of the housing?

couldn't agree more!

didn't know that it was the total reason for all our woes though???? methinks that you are about to use a perfectly good sprague bearing that will soon start spinning!

This was causeing the starter to sound like the battery was low or spinning free. The bearing wasn't crushed by the snap ring, it holds the bearing from turning making the tip up.
Also on the stock decomp spring i turned it 1 time to preload the spring, used a small screw driver to turn the squared of end of the spring round. I was having the same trouble with the bob weight that you had posted in June, this made the decomp work ,could feel a difference when kicking the engine over but the starter still couldn't turn over the engine.
will see i can get a picture of the bearing posted to show where i moved the snap ring to
