starter motor removal

Hi all,

I have decided not to pursue my starter motor problem but to remove it all together.
Does any body on here do the bung to fill in the hole in the crank case or is it make your own jobby.
It starts second or third kick cold and 1st kick when warm plus it adds a bit of nostalgia and a small bit of exercise plus it gets rid of unwanted turning parts.

Regards

Sparks.

There is a plug to purchase that fits in the hole nicely. It has a rubber o ring and a bracket to hold it from the inside. You'd better spend the few euros and order it.

Old P/N is 220 078-01 and new is 800.40.034.100. The screw is an M6, with I guess a 1.00 thread.

Re: RE: starter motor removal

Could you tell me the dimension of this hole, I must make this part by my self. I heve two days to the race in which I start.

I can't mesure it now and have no time to order parts. This information might be usfull in future for other users.

RE: Re: RE: starter motor removal

its a 30mm diam of the metal of the plug. the oring adds about 2mm. a plumbing expandable rubber plug would work.

Hey sparks,

I think I've got a couple of those lying around in my garage. I'll have a look over the weekend.

To close starter hole you can use car engine antifreeze plug 30mm. Fit very well and cost nothing
