i tried to start an '02 FE650 the other day:

aaaa hhhaaaww!

that well known sound that says that its the sprague bearing i thought so i pulled the cover off and tightened the spring that goes around the sprague. over 1" i took off.

i also checked the starter freewheel and noted that my torque wrench at 5LB clicked but at 5.5LB the nut turned. and after a call to sparks i got the nut undone.

i shimmed it out and then put the sidecover back on.

with a fully charged battery it started from luke warm on the button.

brilliant!

I new you would get it off in the end, and what's more it works.... Got to be the best money saver going.
One shimming washer saves you nearlly ninety quid $180.00.
