squeaky boots?

In my experience, boots with a pivoting ankle joint tend to be noisey. My sidi crossfire were quite noisy and that squeaky noise was quite annoying. My solution? Vegetable oil in a syringe of the type used to administer medicine to babys. This oil injected into and around the pivot area worked wonders. Now my boots are nice and quiet. I hope this tip helps some people to get along better with their boots. Good luck, and happy ripping!

Thanks going to do the same to my crossfires

I'm not sure about vegetable oil... Veg oil dries out and leaves almost a sticky varnish. I'm a chef and have found many meat slicers that the carriage won't slide properly and it is always the result of being oiled with veg oil.
I like transmission fluid mixed with a bit of wd40. Tranny fluid won't attack rubber.

I just figured the veggy oil would not break down any plastic or leather. I will keep you posted on long term result.

I use silicon spray on the plastic bits and leather treatment on the leathery bits. Keeps the crossfires quiet (its not just the pivots that squeek, the plastic to leather interface also gets noisey) and helps them last a long time in good condition and requires less effort to change gears, walk, feel the brake etc.
I think they call it maintenance!

update.

Going on two weeks, and a little over five hours of saddle time and the crossfire remain quiet. I really like the "maintenance" comment. Very much on point. With the investment required in order to own such nice gear, any advice on how to make said gear last longer, and work better is appreciated by many to be sure. Thanks for sharing. Just like the bikes themselves, take care of your equipment, and your equipment will take care of you! By the way, put in a few hours today in perfect weather. Northwestern MD., and northern DE. Nice curves, elevation changes, and scenery!

You're onto something there. Dexron III or equivalent transmission fluid has cleaning additives that dissolve plastics. Plenty of transmissions with plastic parts (Hyundai/Mitsubishi/Kia) have failed because someone put the wrong fluid in it. Genuine Diamond and equivalent are ok.
