Sprocket interchangabilaty?

What will fit my 08. KTM stuff. I have the stock new 48tooth I'd like to
use to save a buck. I'm thinking 13/48. I'm running 14/50 now.

I know I'll get hit with "13 tooth will wear out your chain slider" BS so
save it. I've done it. Chain sliders are cheap and 125cc class bikes come
with 13 tooth sprockets all the time. Why then can I buy a 13 tooth from
Husaberg if it's such a disaster?

I'd like to order from Rocky Mt. and Husaberg doesn't make the list.

I got a hooked rear sprocket and a awlfull thin master link. It's time to replace the
final drive.

KTM sprockets will fit at least the FS650 rear. this is what I have on my one. Not sure ab. the front as I haven't changed that one yet.

For my bike I've been told by my dealer to get KTM sprockets - they are the same thing.

As for 13 v. 14, you won't hear it from me. I run a 13/52 now and I've got a 12 I am going to use. I am also going to get a 56 rear as soon as I get a lower rear guide that can accommodate it (TMDesigns). I get a Rekluse too in about a a week or two.

I like low gearing. I *want* the option of going as slow as I can while in the power band instead of fighting the clutch to keep the bike from stalling. Even with the Rekluse I am going to want the low gearing. Whats the worst that can happen? I lose 5 to 10 MPH on the top end? Big deal. The bike can do at least 80 MPH on the highway with 13/52 and that isn't all it can do (I haven't completed breaking it in yet, so I don't know or really care how much faster it can go). At 60 MPH 6th gear is starting to lug with 13/52, so I'll be fine on the street.

I figure with a 56, I can go up to 14 or 15 for the street if I want.

BTW, I've heard and read some good things about DirtTricks.com (Ironman) sprockets as far as longetivity. I think they go up to a 52 or 53 for KTM/Husabergs, which most sprocket makers do.

I'm pretty satisfied with 14/50. 2nd gear could be a little more usable cause 1st
is for last resort and hill starts. Like you top speed is not a problem. If a bike
can do 70 mph I'm happy. My 450 doesn't really pull 6th very hard anyway.

Hey ktmbigfan,

it will definately fit the KTM rear sprocket, I just put a stock ally one on my '05 FE550, be carefull with 51, 52, 53 T as you will have to modify your chain guide (small semi circle cut out of the alloy and the black rubber) so it doesent drag on the chain too much.

going 48 (stock) to 52 gave it heaps more snap, going more could make it wheelie every time you crack the throttle.

That's a good thing, more is better - right? :D

Seriously, for my bike, it is very tractable at all throttle settings, the only time I worry about unintentionally popping a wheelie and it getting out of control is when I am working the clutch in first over obstacles on really technical tight stuff. I figure if I am not having to do that because I am either letting the Rekluse do the work (getting one next week) and/or I am up in the RPM band enough to where I don't have to worry about stalling, then I can modulate the throttle better than the clutch.

Husaberg has setup the bike such that you don't get massive power unless you crank on the throttle a lot, and then there is the mild setting which I haven't used yet. Jeff Tasky says it does really help in the tech stuff, and yet I figure the bike will still have plenty of grunt down low to make it up hills and over obstacles - it is a 570 after all.

For an 08' the KTM rears fit but the front will not. Your best bet is to get one made for the bike.

The pitch is different, less splines (on the berg) if I remember right and I just tried to make a KTM fit on my front the other day.

Codemonkey - thats sweet for you, you have the magic mapping switch, but everyone else with pre 09 bikes (except those that came with the hi/lo switch or have installed an aftermarket vortex) have to dial it in the way they like it, then relt on clutch and throttle to do the rest, dont even strat on the jetting LOL.

my '05 550 with akra pipe and 15/52 is just getting to be snappy in first, and can catch me out if im a bit over zealous with the right wrist (throttle). but hey a guy who came around to get me to go for a ride said he put 13 /51 on his CRF 450R and loves it.

Horses for courses eh!

Front sprockets are actually a Husqvarna part. I know this because I ordered one for a KTM525 & no fit. Dont have the part number but should be off a 510 or something. Hope this helps.

The JT part is the JTF823.

I know it fits Husky 2 strokes of the 84-97 era, I don't know what else.
