Sprocket for Dual Sport Setup??

Dale Lineweaver advises that a good street setup for my 05 fe 650 would be one where the bike will cruise at between 4000 and 5000rpm. If I understand Gearing Commander: Motorcycle Speed, RPM, Chain & Sprockets Calculator correctly, I could pair my 15t front with a 40t rear on a 140/80 18" rear tire/wheel, and be in the motor's sweet spot.

Very new to this, so I would appreciate any thoughts from those who have experimented with different sprocket permutations.

Does this seem a viable setup for a street biased dual sport setup using stock wheels sizes>?

Thamks.

I ran 16/45 gearing on my '05 650 for a short while. It was fine on the steet but I found it ran hot in tighter off road trails. FYI, the '06 to '08 tank holds a bit less fuel, but allows more air flow through the radiators. My 650 liked to boil over with too much clutch use. After gearing down to 14/45 and running the big Clarke tank (better flow as well) it never ran hot.
