Hallo. I was at the local mxtrack today and had my first testride, and i didn't crash, probably riding to slow  maybe because the suspension was to soft so i didn't want to push to much. The springs seams to weak stock Fe450 08 susp. so i am 25kg to fat for them, witch spring should i get? to have the right springrate. Is it best to go for a progressive back spring?

Best regards

I'm close to your weight. Stick with a straight rate rear, it's easier to get proper sag numbers with the correct straight rate spring when you weigh more than average.

I'd go .48 in the front and 9.2 or maybe slightly higher in the rear. The less preload you can have on your rear spring, the better.

If you are going to do a lot of track riding, you might want a revalve as well.

And the number is 0.48kg/mm and 92 Nm/mm?

I'm about 115kg geared up and use a 9.6 and 0.46s. Tried 0.48s and found them too harsh over my rocks. 0.46s with appropriate valving work well for me. I also use lots of oil in my 97 650 to manage bottoming, 90 mm OTTOMH. Also agree that straight rate rear is the go, and for 105kg John's suggestion of a 9.2 is about right, perhaps 9.3 what ever you can get thats close. You don't want more than about 10 mm preload on the spring to get the sags right. I like 30/100, with the shock valved to suit.

I think I go for 0.46 and 9.2 and try diffrent oil-height. revalving seams a littlebit over my head at this time, I try to have the right springs at first and go from there. Do someone know som us dealer that sell springs international, I see its about half the price over there, looked at slavensracing and thay have the springs, but rear is orange only and thats not going on my bike, Its ktm mark enoufh on it, but orange color is just to much.

I can of spray enamel will change the colour of a spring to yellow or whatever you prefer. make sure its clean and wipe it down with a rag soaked in thinners and it'll be OK. Worked for me.

Yes your right, don't underestimate the power of spray enamel, probably used a couple of hundred cans over the year, and inhaled some fumes  maybe that why I didn't come and think of it..

Got my new springs 46 and 9.2 now. painted it yellow so now it look desent. But now i have a problem. the old forkspring is 485mm long and there is 4 plastic spacer between thh preload adjuster and the spring 1x9.7mm-1x4.9mm-2x1.5mm total 17,6mm. the new spring is 505mm. How should i setup the new spring. take away all spacer? or ?

Best Regards

4mm of preload is the sweet spot. pre build them on the bench as per the doc.
