Thought I would share this tidbit of info, hoping it helps someone. I am a 205lb rider, could not get my static sag/rider sag correct on my 2006 FE450e. I have a friend with many KTMs, many spares, got a PDS4-250 spring from him. It dialed my sags in correctly, and is a great improvement. My stock spring was an 80-250. The PDS4 is supposed to be a progressive spring ranging from 85-110. I am a typical 50+ rider with not much left in the knees, I sit more than I used to, I like this spring!

buzzard

i am 205 pounds as well and i concur that the PDS4 spring is on the money! it's actually a;

PDS4-250 8.5 - 11 9.75 average

i have found it to be a great improvement over the original spring too.

Buzzard Et All,

I'm 6'2" 275lbs, Race Tech web site says I need a higher spring rate (no motocross just offroad) front and rear I have no idea what all the numbers are. Is there a KTM spring that will work? Is there any difference in the WP susp. on my bike than a KTM? Oh yea its a 00 FE501.
Muchas Gracias Amigos!

Stoveguy, the KTM suspension is very similar to a Bergs. You can find springs from KTMs that will fit your bike, both front and rear. For your weight you will need to find the correct springs, hopefully someone of a similar weight will have some feedback. May 06 Dirtrider has an interesting article on setting up a Honda 450 for a heavy rider, most in the article applies to you and your bike, as well. Springs are rated by weight/distance, kilograms (how many) required to move the spring one centimeter, or millimeter. Some are rated in pounds/inch. The main thing you need to be concerned with is getting your sag ratings in the ballpark. Your owners manual has a good description of this. You will definitely need heavier than stock springs for best results.

stoveguy go to this thread on k-talk and it'll give you the spring you need. one bloke has worked really hard at changing some of the daft figures that WERE put up. follow it through and you'll learn a lot.

here

it's at the top of their 'pin-it' section.
