Speedo on FS650E question

Hi guys,

I'm suppose to be picking-up my bike today if it's ready. A 2004 FS650E.

I'm am curious on how the Speedo operates on the FS650E. On the other bikes in the showroom, just going foward with them would turn on the Speedo without having to start the engine.

But on the FS650E, this did not work, does the engine have to be running?

Though I would ask before I pick-up the bike.

Thanks

Andre

The speedo should have a lithium battery in it which allows it to fire up when the front wheel sensor is activated.

The speedo will work off the bike battery with the ignition on but isn't reliable.
The lithium battery recently went flat on my bike and I found the trip meter would intermittently reset if I relied on the bike battery to power the unit.

Ask the dealer to fix it. Either the battery isn't seating properly or is flat. (They only cost a couple of bucks)

The sensor was not positioned properly. The dealer got it fixed.

Thanks

Andre
