Hi Guy's
I'm having a problem with my Speedo and hope someone can help me out ?. here we go.
When i wheel the bike or just push it to move it the Speedo comes on no problems i can do this 10 or 20 times a day all works fine.
But as soon as i start riding the bike guess what no Speedo, if I stop riding wait a minuet, and push it again the Speedo works again, start riding it stops.
Any help would be grateful
Mark
By the way its an 08 fe450 if that helps :)

what happens if you put the bike on a stand and spin the front wheel, engine off?

Hi Ned37
I tried that the clocks work and stays on, But have not yet tried it and starting the engine.

if it is ok with the engine off, there is prolly a problem with the power from the alternator. check to see if you're getting power at the yel/ red when its running. the other 2 wires at that connector go to ground. make sure they do.

Hi Ned.
Checked the yel/red wire yes there is life to it when the engine is running.
Checked the other 2 wires, by putting my test light to live side of battery and earthling it out on the 2 remaining wires, test light, Lights up ok.
I've even checked to see if there is any play in wheel bearing or steering head, thought my 16 stone might be putting something out of line when im riding it, No play anywhere, so looks like im riding this weekend without a Speedo.
Any more idea's would be very welcome :)

Sounds like your wheel speed sensor could be working when going slow ie pushing the bike but stops when going faster. The speedo would think the bike is stopped and turn off.

Is the wheel magnet in the right place - it needs to pass within a few millimetres of the sensor.

Is the sensor undamaged? A mate scraped the end face of the sensor on a friends KTM that we motarded and it did what you describe above about 30km/h. Replacing the sensor fixed it. I think your 'berg has the same sensor.
