sparkplug issues?

Hi, eddiemunster......
Try this site, they have info on NGK spark plugs. The D8EA covers a lot of non-Husaberg atvs and bikes, the DCPR8E shows for Ferrari and Ducati. Husaberg OEM is C8E. Plug in the plug number and when the Info bar comes up, put the cursor on "more info".ngk.com.
This is the website for Sparkplugs.com, a sparkplug specialty shop. For more tech info, try http://www.ngksparkplug.com, the home page for NGK.

The downloadable parts manual for a 2000 fe400 says the OEM plug is NGK DCPR8E.

The NGK website is incorrect.

thanks peeps...thought the last one was breaking down..but obviuosly the wrong plug was used....

FWIW - This is the response I had from spark-plugs.co.uk (who I think to be an excellent bunch) when I considered replacing my plug on a FE400e.

Hope it helps:

DCR8EIX is the Iridium equivalent of DCPR8E, the insulator nose is less
projected on the Iridium type but as NGK recommend it as a replacement then
I won't dispute it. If the engine manufacturer specifies a resistor type
plug then I wouldn't advise fitting a non resistor type plug, apart from the
increased radio interference, this can cause problems with ignition systems
which are designed for use with a resistorised plug and electrical noise can
interfere with computer controlled systems such as engine management.

DCR8EIX should give you a greatly improved spark over the standard plug
regardless of the internal resistor

(although more costly) would be Denso IXU24

Yours aye,

I forgot to say: I bought the cheaper plug (skinflint!) and it has made a noticable improvement to starting from cold.

My bike is the 2002 model

Yrs aye,

In my bike a Husaberg FE501 a 96 year model. I use a NGK CR8EK works very well no complaints helps starting and running. The plugs are not especially cheap but they last longer.Hope this helps.
