I'm looking into converting my '06 fe550e, I won't be racing ,just street fun. Can I just fit my stock disk and caliper to 17''s if I can't afford bigger? Do I really need/want CUSH drive just for town? I believe the front axle is 26mm, what size is the rear again? At what year did KTM/HUSABERG start to have the same axle size's? Thanks. 8)

Consider just switching tires on your stock rims for street fun.

Cheap and easy to do. Take a look at the Avon Gripsters, Avon Distanzia, Pirelli Scorpion AT, etc.

Converting to 17" rims with the big brakes, revised suspension, etc is a big project.

i used to have a stock caliper but on a bracket with 320mm disc which was fine for road use wouldnt think the stock disc would be up to much abuse. The 320 disc's are cheap enough 2nd hand on european ebay try searching ktm

as for axle sizes not sure if they changed 03 to same as ktm

good luck

I fitted a KTM SM kit with the cush drive to my 05 FE550. Buy the 4.25" rear wheel and fit a 150 tire. Mines a 5" with a 160 tire and it's areal mutha to fit. I have to remove the rear caliper, which is blood hard to refit with the wheel in place. Also, the cush drive moves the sprocket outward a little so don't use a sprocket like the stealth that has rivets as these will foul against the chain guide bolts. If you are doing this as a permanent change, you mind want to shorten the side stand as the bike does sit a litle vertical.

If you remove the chainguide and move the caliperbracket back as far as it goes the 5" wheel will fall into place pretty easy. But the 4,25" is still much easier to fit of course.
