So I'm considering a Berg TE300 two-stroker...

...in the next few months. Anyone here have one? I know they are just a re-badged KTM with a lot of trick parts on them, but I'm definitely a big fan of them! Just wondering if anyone has any feedback on them yet.

They are mostly a KTM 300 XC (XCW?) forget which with Husaberg plastic.

I recall that there are a few minor differences which I am sure someone will chime in with. So if you are looking for something a lot different then you'll have to keep looking I guess. Otherwise maybe you will want or not want one or more of the minor differences.

Yeah I've seen that they are basically a KTM300XC with Berg-specific forks and the map switch and stuff standard. I currently ride a YZ250 2010 two-stroker that I've set up for woods riding, but I keep glancing back at the Berg website and checking out the TE300...we'll see what happens in the next couple months!

Does anyone on here own one? The electric start and hydraulic clutch have me foaming at the mouth.

I know one big advantage over the ktm 300 is this one is 6speed.

KTM 300XC-W
The 2-stroke maximum. The engine of the 300 XC-W is a torque wonder, with incomparable enduro properties and unrivalled power output. For 2011 there is a new cylinder and exhaust system mated to the new 6-speed gear box. Combined with the electric start, they are priceless advantages.

NEWS MY 2011
- Transparent tank --> visibility of fuel level
- New colors
- New decals
- Handlebar protector in serial protection
- New cylinder with optimized timing à more torque
- New piston --> higher reliability
- New carburetor setting --> better ridability
- New exhaust pipe --> more peak performance
- New 2-component silencer with bigger inner tubing and new bracket --> more torque, cooler running engine and better connection to the bike
- Electric start in serial production
- New 6-speed gearbox

hey
i bought a berg 300 about 6 weeks back and it is an amazing bike and i've done about 500 kms so far. i came off a ktm450exc, which was a great bike, though the berg is my first 2 stroke and i will never go back to a 4 stroke. the 10kgs less weight makes an incredible difference in terms of riding across ruts, coming out of corners tighter and quicker etc. The tractibility is no issue and is just as good as the 4 stroke, contrary to all the stories about the progressive power of 4's relative to 2's etc - it has been pooring rain in victoria, australia over the past months, so plenty of riding in the wet, though i havent hit any really slippery red clay up a big hill yet. The front suspension is incredible and the bike is very 'confidence inspiring.' the only other difference to the ktm 300 is the bigger fuel tank. Mixing oil /fuel isnt great and obviously the gear box oil needs to be changed, so u dont get out of oil changes. Hope that all helps?

I have ridden the 300 KTM and that motor is almost electric - whereas my 450EXC had a bit of a hit to the power and was at times a handful, especially on tight trails. What I'm curious about is if the blue 300 turns as well as the 4-stroke 'Bergs. My FE550e feels like it is connected to my brain and changes direction almost by itself. My KTM 200XCW, on the other hand, requires a lot more rider input - when jumping on it after riding the 550 I find myself almost running off the trail in corners. All of the KTMs I've owned (125EXC, 250EXC,400MXC, 450EXC, 200XCW) felt a bit vague in the handling department compared to my '05 FE550 which I think is the best handling woods bike I've ever ridden. I do love the KTM 300 motor and now that it has electric start (and a 6-speed on the blue edition) it sounds like it could be the greatest thing yet.

Anyone done a side by side handling comparison with a 4-sroke Husaberg?

Biggest advantage compared to it's orange cousin is the closed cartridge fork, which I heard is the closest thing you can get to a Öhlins supsension.
The other one is the 11 l fuel tank - obviously you'll get further into the wilderness, but it will also carry it's weight lower because the fueltank is stretching down och the left hand side.

So it might be a bit more expensive than the 300EXC, but looking at what you get for that price, it's looks like a bargain compared to the EXC.

There will be a TE300 in my shed this afternoon! Thanks for all the info guys.

Al´n al the bike was super fantastic great. Exess off al waht u need but deliverd in a smoood manor. I´m in love! Sexy as it sounds but it growes in yor hands. Faster and nimbler than the 450 and 390. Power like the 570. Select the right spring for exaust valv and your in heaven. Only flaws it fills the airbox and filter with snow.
Sorry to say my frien had a helm cam...cuouldn´t catsh me on one frame.

One big fan of the te 300. Sold my 570 a month ago.

So how do you really feel about it, Brappen?
