Hi,
Any tips on locating the source of oil causing my '96 FE350 to smoke? It is enough smoke to signal a problem but not an embarrassing amount. Here are some facts:
-replaced piston and rings
-honed cylinder quickly at the time of the new piston install
-smokes only after the bike is at operating temperature
-film of blackened oil in both exhaust ports
-the oil reed seems fine
-runs and starts fine
-bike smoked before and after piston replacement
-no oil in airbox
-I replaced the piston after my oil turned black and the bike started loosing power, after about 5 rides (now I know to check oil more often).
-completely flushed the motor of any remaining black oil
How can I tell if it is a result of valve problems vs. piston problems? Are there any tell-tale signs?
Thanks,
Greg
