Smokey while running BLUE SMOKE

This is bad i am guessing and I'm in quite a bit of panic.
Quick background story etc - Husaberg FE550e 07 model (love it by the way)
rode hard for around 3 hours in the bush come out of the bush onto some tar and gave it all she had. then no noise or anything but i looked behind and im making a smoke screen only started to happen on the tar says others.

about 500kms ago my mechanic replaced my headgasket cause he said it was blown but it wasn't doing this.
i did notice tho that the oil indicator ( the little screen that you look through) was full of oil not one gap or anything and i believe that is way to full or am i wrong. its still full now. ( Towed the bike home 15kms)
Bike is 2500kms old and the mechanic does all my services is a honda mechanic and knows nothing about bergers.
Please tell me i am wrong as i like the mechanic.
Oh and whats the fix for that symptom blowing blue smoke out the exhaust.
all my bike repairs make me a sad panda.

I'm a newbie with the Bergs, but I have read in magazine tests that these engines will throw a cloud of oil smoke, if over fiilled, until the level comes down to normal.

I believe it comes from heavily excess oil vapor being sucked from the engine into the air inlet chamber (where it is vented by the engine breather tubes) and simply fed back in via the carb.

If you never heard anything funny and the engine was still strong, perhaps it took the full-on open throttle for a while to create & suck up enough vapor to get the smoke going.

The magazine comments I am recalling had that crew somewhat distressed too as the smoke was apparently very apparent.

On the other hand, there are a handfull of things that could go amiss and cause oil to bleed into the combustion chamber and throw a smoke cloud. Some of the engine pros here would be better suited to filling in on that kind of malady.

Hope you just have a bit too much oil in'er!

Best of luck!

i believe you may be right. what ill do when i get home from work is Drain all the oil. take off the air filter and check in the frame there to see if there is alot of oil in there and try and clean it with a rag of some sort. then refill it with the correct amount of oil. i might do the spark plug too at the same time considering if it was burning oil it probably isnt good for the plug. and i want to try one of those iridium plugs!!

I has a similar problem with my FE550 when i took a trip over the hangers (handlebars) gowing down a steep rutted hill, a bit of oil mate its way through the breather tubes into the frame backbone (air plenum) and was inducted back into the engine when I got it started again, and it smoked like hell!

I think you have the engine oil over full, oil level should just show in the bottom of the sight glass, no more that 4mm or approx 1/4 inch above the bottom. I doubt that you will have any obvious sign of oil in the intake, as it will ahve been sucking a fine mist of oil into the intake (remember there is a spongey screen in the breather tubes (unless you've miodded the breather), but it would pay to make sure your carby bowl is drained / flushed a few times so there is no oily residue to clog your jets.

Azza.

there is also the chance that it has picked up on the linar and ripped a bit out. but doi all the other checks first. oil is a good one, check the waterpump seal is still good.

Its pretty normal for an engine to smoke if you go WOT after a long time of heavy load (just a little puff not a cloud).

Also I have trouble with my '05, one of the exhaust valve seals has a bit of a leak so the oil burns in the head pipe. you can check for this by taking off the headpipes and seeing if it feels oily in one but not the other.

I generally find that smoke is associated with electrical problems, whenever something electrical lets go, the smoke escapes. The challenge is capturing the smoke and stuffing it back in to fix it.

it was very overfull! holy honda dealership badness.
1.4liters drained from it.
replaced with 1liter of oil and walla all good.
Thanks for the help guys
