Well, being a clown, I crashed the mighty 'berg today. Grabbed too much front brake at reasonably low speed and lost the front. Smashed the sucker into an armco barrier.

Anyway, need a few parts.
- front guard
- clutch reservoir cap (the bit with the decomp lever attached

It's an '05 FE450E.

Any advice from fellow Aussie 'berg owners about the best/cheapest place to get new gear?

Thanks,

aardy

G'day,

Did you email Flinders Motorcycles today?

If so, you would have recieved a reply re these parts-otherwise get in touch with Flinders and get us to give you a quote

Yes Wattsy, that was me.

Thanks for the response. Once I work out how to hide the expense from the wife and which bits I can do without/work around I'll give you a call and get you to order some bits.

A while back I did the same thing & wedged the 'berg under an armco. Had to remove the LH footpeg to get it out! :(

Would recommend getting parts locally in Oz if you can. Failing that, try BOSS in US. Rick & Tammi have been most helpful in the past. The exchange rate is not too bad at the moment either.

Thanks Bundy. I had a hand with some of the repairs and managed to pick up a few bits from a mate of a mate...

Just need te front fender. I'll have to get Wattsy to order one for me.

Anyone know if scratches in the side plastics can be sanded out?

The glossy finish on the plastic tends to come off the mould that makes them. You might get most of the scratches out, but it is near impossible to get the same lustre without painting. I spose you haven't got anything to lose by having a go, and it might make them good enough to use while you look around for new ones.

I have found in the past that toothpaste is a pretty good for polishing harder plastics like perspex. Might be worth a try on the side plates? I think they are polypropylene.

I seem to recall having some success with Mothers metal polish on plastics a while ago. Might give that a shot.

At the end of the day it's an off road bike and I ride it as such. Sooner or later it's bound to get scratched and/or bent, but I like to keep it looking tidy. Makes maintenance easier.

Thanks for your advice BB.
