I posted this in my new to FE570 thread but thought I might get more eyes on it here. I have a brand new issue. I think it's a fuel issue based on some research and tips from Rainerio on here.
About 5 times in a few hours, mostly on downhills in 2nd gear and engine breaking or just slowing to a stop on flat I would hear some light backfires (or something) and then it would sputter dead. It ran great before and after each time. Started right back up each time, except once it took a couple tries. After one of the times I went back to the truck and put a bit of gas in. It didn't do it again for a decent amount of time but then an hour or so later it started doing it again.
Two rides ago I looped it out and it hit the ground pretty hard and bent the handlebars. Landed on the left side. Then right before this ride I changed the oil and in order to get the oil drain plug and filter screen bolt back in I laid it on it's side for an hour (took a while to get them to thread. little scary.) I don't know if those things would've knocked anything loose.
Throttle position sensor, heated gas, fuel pump, vapor lock, filters, injector are all things I'll look into. This thing has 12000 miles on it so I figured any fuel pump issues would've been long taken care of.
Anyway, any tips would be welcome. Also, and maybe most importantly, I'm doing a 300 mile dirt ride this weekend and I'm planning on nursing this thing through it. Is that a bad idea? I don't want to damage anything but it runs great most of the time so if I just have to restart it again every once in a while I'll do that.
Thanks all!
