Hi All,

Just a small achievement which I thought I would share.

I have finally set my Helmet Cam up for wide angle shots, it is about the same as your normal field of vision, and captures almost everything going on around you.

I have managed to do some edits on my computer, following installing new hardware on my computer to capture digital video, which was like brain surgery!

so Ive posted a small clip in my gallery 'awilksch' - it doesent take long to download, so if you choose to take a look - Enjoy!

Good stuff!!

I would be interested in talking more with you about the helmet camera before the force ride, I also use a helmet camera which I have made up myself and now want to make it better, my camera is only 420 lines which is ok but I find that the colour is lacking to that of say a camcorder, I was wondering if it is worth the expense to purchase a 480 or 520line camera. Another reason for updating is for the option of wide angle as you have done.
I use a Medion 20GB MP4 recorder to record the footage and have found it to be very good and is so compact.
I have quite a bit of footage now ranging from mini DV,HI8 tapes and the MP4/AVI files and am always looking for an easy to use editing software or someone that can show me how to use it effectively
I hope there are quite a few helmet cameras at the force ride as i'm sure you know they attract the funny stuff.
Talk soon

Hi Tim,

If you have one of those fancy MP4 (i thenk they retail as ELMO recorders from the place I brought my setup) you're way ahead of me pal!

I Have a mini DV camcorder from Cash converters, which I talked them down from $700 to $500, and a kit from 'Eyespy Shop' in Adelaide - www.eyespyworld.com.au - which is based on a Sony Super HAD CCD 520TVL bullet cam (they have 580's now, and 480 was the standard when I brought mine).

I have just got a new computer, which has vista system, and so far I've found Windows Movie Maker to be adequate, but as I have Business edition Vista, I dont have any DVD authouring / burning software. Bugger!

I have updated the standard lense, a 5.3 I think, to a 3.2 (much wider angle) which for $30.00 for my cam was the best possible thing I could do - the lense doesent fit naturally, so I had to remove the glass shield lense and retaining collett frome the lense housing, and fit it into the mounting which I had allready made waterproof previously.

I will have mine geared up for the force ride, but I dare say it wont be footage of the front of the pack, but I am keen to do an edit of the ride.

Picture a fade in, long pan of 30 - 40 Bergs lined up, to Hunters & Collectors 'Holy Grail' -' woke up this mornin' fom the strangest dream, I was, in the biggest army the world had ever seen, an' we were marchin' as one, on the road, to the holy grail....'

Yeah!!!! :headbang: H-berg

Oh, and the quality is ***** on the web because the clips are compressed to 4MB, in WMP format they are 40 - 80MB for 2 - 3 mins.
