Hello from Sweden
How "long" is the cylinder from the bottom to the top on a Husaberg 501 -99?
My cylinder has been relined (rebored) and they took (grinded) of a little bit of the top beacuse the surface on the top of the cylinder was scratched.
Hope you understand what i mean since English isn`t my language ;-)

welcome jarmo to UHE, nice to have plenty of swedes here!

you can rebuild the engine in one case half while the piston sits in the linar. let it all rotate and check then. you should have about 2-3mm spare at the bottom. if the piston came equal to the bottom it wouldn't be a problem and i suggest eeven with the piston hanging low by say 1-2mm it still wouldn't be a problem!

Yeah,
As long as the work is done by a good engineering firm, then all shoule be well. If you are worried, you make a thicker base gasket, which will push the cylinder up, making it appear longer!

I have re read that and your English appears to be better than mine. Speaking real England was always a problem for me.

Thanks.

Hello folks.
Found a thicker base gasket 1,5 mm, it will perhaps lower the comp, but better to be on the safe side than sorry ;-)) just spent almost 13000:- swedish kronor on the engine.
A broken exhaustvalve when the machine was idling ;-(
Next week i hope i`ll ride it again in the muddy trails if Valhall after a total rebulid with almost everything new in the engine, all bearings, connectionrod, piston, new valves and guides valveseats and seals.

Have an nice weekend
