Silly question....

Hi folks, have a silly question. Am fitting OEM front number board instead of headlight unit for some racing later in the year.

Anyways, I can see the recess & hole in the board which presumably a bolt goes through to attach to the frame, but cannot see anywhere on the bike in that area that this could attach to.

Do I need a OEM bracket to fit the number board?

Many Thanks

Crispin, you should have an M6 hole right in the middle of the top triple clamp just under the speedo.

Nice one Carl, will take a look as soon as I get home (perhaps I couldn't see for looking...) 8O

The number plate can be mounted without removing the computer by using a different computer mount - KTM part #52314060000. I have one on my 0'5 550.

Thanks guys, yes indeed it looks as though you need that OEM part # to affix the number board to an 04

Here is a pic, the existing bracket? appears to be different and is a wide thin strip that runs across the head stock with a curved section at each end??;

That curved piece is the turn signal mounting bracket. Nothing you seem to have used for a while...

I used a long M6 bolt and a piece of pipe (6mm (about 1/4") inner diameter) to get enough room between the number board and computer. Although it was on a -06 you should be able to do the same with a longer longer bolt or if necessary a longer rod threaded with M6 threads cut to suitable length.

Oh yeah almost forgot, it's a real m-f to mount all the loose pieces back together. You roughly need 5 hands to keep it simple. :bounce3:

errrr.... turn signals??? what are they? :D

Thanks Nick for the info, I've ordered the OEM part #, so I'll see what's what when the bracket arrives & try to fit the m-f some how! :bounce3:

Here it is (though not a close up showing bracket I'm afraid). Bike is with local mechanic now getting a bit of pre-season TLC :p

Thanks very much matey, I am hoping to do as many Nora rounds as possible, likely I will miss Blyton though as that's TT race week in the IOM & I might be over there for that.

Think I've seen some on-board from Rednal (Oswestry?) from last year's Nora, looked F'n smart!

Gearing? I'm not sure what I've got at the mo, and the bike is with a local mechanic getting some work done, I'll let you know.

Thanks indeed for the offer of help with questions, I sure have a lot never having competed before & not knowing the whole set up side.

I may drop you a few questions from time-to-time, very kind offer, thanks!
