I have been looking at silicon nitride for a different application (piston rings for a prototype two stroke engine) and it has a low fracture toughness, for the inlet this would be fine but it could be a problem with the automatic decompressor in the exhaust lobe.

I have the working prototypes and now simply need to make time for testing.

Based on early calculations the de-comp cam should pose little trouble.
