Well, following the short stint setting up my suspension sag by the book, last weekend, I took a ride with my mates, Kyma (wr250F) and Joel (KTM450sxf) in a faraway place, devoid of human habitation (except for park ranger, who booked us for using a National Park fire break).

The result of setting suspension correctly is apparent in ride performance, I mean it is like you have gotten on a 2WD bike and you have felt some feedback through the front wheel for the first time, the feeling is superb!

anyway, the obvious nett result of your rear tyre being in contact with the ground, and in sync with the terrain and your riding style is becomming apparent...

The Kenda Millville (intermediate) tyre that I installed some 2 1/2 months ago, which I was fairly happy with on short basic trailies and road riding) got absolutely trashed!

I mean, some of the knobs, both centre and side knobs have been completely removed, torn off!

I would like to know what UHE members are using on their bikes, cos this cant be an isolated prob. when I read the previous 2 years of ADB (Australasian Dirt Bike), the articles mentioned the propensity to use rear hoops, and that the front one would rarely touch the ground, but hell!! 2 rears in 8 months??

I am looking at the Mchelin Deserts, or Maxxis Deserts, I have used a set of Maxxis IT's in the past on my KX and was really happy with wear and performance.

any suggestions??

For winter i'll run the millville and for summer , i'll run the kenda ''carlsbad''. I've had good luck with Kenda tires. Next i'll try the ''buds creek'' from kenda . how much psi are you running? I stay around 11 to 15 psi on mine ? I try to ride 4 to 6 times a month , so two tires in 8 month's works for me . I normally ride hard pack and rocks , roots and hills . Hope this help's ..

I use michelin tyres. But I get them for nothing. I ride mostly through soft sfuff, so I would not expect to destroy any tyres. The michelin is very poor on wet roads, my old tyres were Inouei { spelling??} and handled much better. I run 11 psi mostly. The only time I have destoyed tyres was on a Suzuki RM250, when I was using trials tyres, the knobbles tore off! So maybe the yres are toosoft for your terrain? Try something harder.. maybe Enduro comps!

ask your local dealer to get in some MOTOZ tyres there a new aussie brand we have tested them with our race team and they came out with high ratings in all departments they have just recieved the full supply of compounds and sizes including 19 " hard terrain to mx compound even mini bikes. they have one called the TRACTIONATOR its the meanest tyre ive ever seen, your mates will hate you when they try to pass. i couldnt destroy one on an aprillia 550 last ride at Oberon and it was like a Bagdad war zone behind me. I contacted the berg dealer in Mildura (Des at sunset cycles Red Cliffs) he was getting some in give him a try hes a bit quiet with the drought so give a berg dealer a go Caldecotts in Keith may be a go to. The Kenda are a good budget tyre but lack a bit in extreme conditions the budds crk seems ok. MAXXIS dont grip. MOTOZ are slightly dearer but they will last and grip 3 fold. 130/90x18 tractionator $145 is the dearest they come in 120 & 110 and get cheaper. hope this helps email me [email protected] if you need assistance.I have them in stock
