lineweaver country hey!
i've been stock car racing since my 7th birthday in '68 and i never thought i'd see the day that bikes went around a 1/4 mile oval other than speedway machines.
the first ever national series has started and the first round was held at kings lynn tonight on the north norfolk coast.
they had four heats of 10 riders followed by two heats of the monkey bike racing. this was rotated three times before they had two semis, a last chance, final for the monkey bikes and then the final for the short circuit bikes.
that's 23 races for your £8 and great value.
there were about three proper flat track machines there and marco belli, all the way up from italy on a 676 harley rotax won the final.
he won all three heats, darren pearson of huddersfield won his three and another FT won two but lost the last to a husky 630 ridden by ian cherry. darren was there on the only husey at the meeting. a 650 summinkoruver specialnicebikequick.
in the semis darren got inside second row and there was no way through, frustration made his riding erratic and he fell eventually.
in the last chance he took an easy win and although baulked in the final eventually pulled through to 3rd behind the cherry/belli combo.
it was great to see the big 600cc+ bikes giving it some and the supermoto looking bikes seemed to handle quite well.
the Ft bikes though weighed nowt and the weight that they have is very low. there is no way that that eyetie will be back in 12 months and win again. the brits love their engineering and they'll have them right soon don't you worry.
there was a triumph triple out there as well as a 1000 HD which looked off the street! THEY WERE HUGE THE PAIR OF THEM!
funnier still were the choice of tyres;
slicks
speedway
wets
trials
MX
road
the racing was excellent. a slick promotion and well worth visiting.
regards
Taffy
