Thanks

The Racetech P25 will work on your 570 as long as that is the proper spring for your weight and the shock is valved for a progressive spring and not valved for a straight-rate spring.

Not sure what terrain you ride, my tuner said the Racetech springs are geared more for motocross. He preferred the standard PDS springs for all around trail, desert, enduro type of riding.

FWIW, I weigh around 200 lbs and I ran a racetech P25 on my ktm 380 for a while. A P25 would be too stiff for my 09 FE450. The shock on the FE450 is angled more than the older ktm frames so you can use a softer spring. I’m using a PDS 2 on my FE450. I have since switched to a PDS 3 on my ktm 380 and the ride is very plush, tracks straight, soaks up everything and has very good bottoming resistance.

These are the older, 250mm PDS springs:
PDS-0=6.5/8.3
PDS-1=7.0/9.0
PDS-2=7.5/9.7
PDS-3=8.0/10.3 = FCW3
PDS-4=8.5/11.0 = FCW4

These are the newer, 260mm PDS springs:
PDS-5=6.6/8.6
PDS-6=7.15/9.05
PDS-7=7.6/9.5
PDS-8=8.1/9.95

RACE TECH FORK AND SHOCK SPRINGS - Shock Spring P05 6.1/7.8 63x260mm 201-6326P05
RACE TECH FORK AND SHOCK SPRINGS - Shock Spring P10 6.7/8.0 63x260mm 201-6326P10
RACE TECH FORK AND SHOCK SPRINGS - Shock Spring P15 7.5/8.8 63x260mm 201-6326P15
RACE TECH FORK AND SHOCK SPRINGS - Shock Spring P20 8.1/9.6 63x260mm 201-6326P20
RACE TECH FORK AND SHOCK SPRINGS - Shock Spring P25 8.8/10.4 63x260mm 201-6326P25
RACE TECH FORK AND SHOCK SPRINGS - Shock Spring P30 9.5/11.3 63x260mm 201-6326P30

I got lower cost rear springs for my FE570 by using automotive coil-overs and Racetech ID/OD adapters. You can buy eibach or other very high quality for automotive coil-over applications from summit racing (or others) and buy the $4 adapters from racetech so you can use std ID coilovers for about 1/2 price. They are available in 25 lb/in increments so lots of rate choices.

edit: These are for straight rate non-progressive springs

Thank you everyone for such Awesome input!!

pjk380 - I can't seem to find a race tech that has PDS-3 shock spring. maybe I am not looking in the right place. maybe you can add a link to the right spring. I am also around 200lb. I ride mostly dirt roads here in Cali I am on the coast.

I did find this one on Ebay... will this one work PDS-5

Several companies offer springs for WP shocks.
I went with a factory connection progressive (FCWH 9~11.5), works for me, but I'm heavy guy.
I would contact Jeff at slavens racing and go with what he suggests for your setup. He's well respected in the suspension world and carries quality springs at a competitive price.

The PDS-X is a WP designation/standard for ktm, berg non-linkage bikes. WP, Factory Connection, Eibach, etc. make those springs. Race-Tech designate their springs as P05, P10, etc. and their spring rates are a little different than the WP PDS spring rates.

I think a PDS-5 is going to be a little soft for you. At 200 lbs. with the PDS-5 of initial spring rate at 6.6 you probably need too much preload to get the proper race sag. Max preload should be 10mm. With a PDS-2 (7.5/9.7) on my FE450, I have 8mm of pre-load, static sag is 25mm and race sag is around 105mm. I know others prefer a little more sag.

Then again if you mainly ride easy trails, dirt roads, you could probably get away with a little more preload to get your sag numbers within the right range. By doing this you could compromise bottoming resistance and it could make your shock feel a little harsh. I would not recommend that route unless you really want to experiment and play with suspension.

Suspension is all about preference. My buddy has a 2013 ktm 500 and he likes race sag close to 120mm. I've gone round and round with him on race sag settings and 120mm works for him. I know the berg's, new ktm's and my 380 are all different frames and chassis's but I like the back end up a bit. I want the front end to feel solid and planted. Race sag on my 380 is also at 105mm. Start with settings as outlined in the manual so you have a baseline. Adjust from there.

If you want a RaceTech spring, it looks like a P20 would work well on a 570 and 200lb rider. As mentioned contact Slavens racing or better yet a nearby suspension tuner you can work with.

you want an 88 from WP on the rear and a pair of 50s on the front. end of (yawn!)

Would you be able to post a link to the specific shock?

Thanks

I don't know where you would go in the USA. if it were me I'd have a word with Dale'O' who used to virtually live on the website till the trolls took over.

try Dale Covington or go to racetech. or look on ebay for a genuine white 85-260 or 250 rear. the fronts you can get anywhere. they are coded 43.5-505-50. 43.5 is the diameter of the springs, 505 is the length and 50 is the strength. OK?

I have done a 390 this week. over here though I can only get an orange rear spring (yes I know.....).

I can only get you springs for like.... 67gbp front and rear. I'm not out to be competitive and the Americans can do most things cheaper than us. perhaps Bushie will research it for you, now I'm involved, he may make strenuous efforts for you - he usually does.
