Has anyone shipped a used bike from USA (California even) to Europe (Ireland perhaps) ? Someone named Kiieth is interested in buying my Husaberg and shipping it to Ireland. I imagine you drain the fluids and take out the battery and someone from the shipper takes it away but as with most things in life it is probably much harder than that! Eric

Had a mate who shipped a bike across Oz to a sight unseen buyer & the buyer was impressed at how it arrived. He went to the local bike shop & they were happy to give him a shipping crate with purpose built internal frame that one of their new bikes came in. I think he had to pull the front wheel & bars off & make a couple of small mods to the crate to fit it in, but it was a tidy package.

Certainly at work when we ship whole trucks around the world we don't drain fluids. I would think that just draining (ie not dismantling & washing) all juices, especially fuel would be required for a box that would be packed. I'd just disconnect the battery & if possible put a plastic cap of some sort over the +ve terminal.

I sure hope not! I guess I'd have to have the money in the Bank before I let her go... Kieth would have to trust me but at least there are plenty of poeple who could vouch for me via this site. Thanks, Eric

I have shipped a few bikes to iceland over the years. No problem ,you just crate it up,all dealers have crates of all sizes that you can have for free,we have to pay to have them taken to the land full.Of course the fuel tank must be empty and battery disconnected and anything else deemed by the shipping company to be a hazard. The customer tells the shipper what ship or? he wants you to use, they deposit the funds in your account ,then you deliver the machine to the shipping company.deals done......nsman
