hi all new lad here must say crackin webby and forum ya got here.... was wondering if shell rimula rt4 is anything near match to delo 400 thanks would be great if some 1 can help

The Delo is a petroleum based oil. The Rimula is a synthetic. Shell Rotella would be a closer match. The only advantage to running Delo/Rotella was price. The thought being that the pre 09 Bergs only hold 1 quart of oil and the engine and trans share the same oil. It was considered a good idea to change the oil every ride or so. It was an easier sell when paying 2 bucks a quart rather 12-15 for the synthetic. If you are going to buy synthetic you might as well go with a motorcycle specific synthetic with a JASO rating.

ok thanks berger just that i got some of the shell rt4 and wondered if it will be ok in an 2003 650 cheers

I would give it a shot. Just pay attention to clutch operation. If you were going to have an issue,it will proably show up there. I would give it a try if I had some laying around.

ok thanks for ur replys, i got 20litre of it for a bargain so ill give it a whirl n c how it goes

Careful with the rimula rt4, ive used it in my berg without any issues but it is advertised as Low Emission so it does contain stuff that might affect your clutch.

I got 20ltrs of rimula r3x of fleabay for cheap and this stuff is advertised as heavy duty multi grade with triple action protection which is more in line with delo/rotella and there's no low emission additive.

Also there is rimula r3u, which is suitable for petrol engines, same as delo400

ok nice 1 m8 ive give it a quick run with no clutch probs but cant really give it a propper test till the ***** weather goes... wot basicly can go wrong with it just a slippy clutch or can it wreck things in the engine.... hope its ok only paid £30 for 20l woop woop lol

Not sure about what potential problems "friction Modifyers" will have on a clutch, maybe make it start to slip?

Armthorpe! I have that question all the time when i tell people where im from. Ive actually never been, sacrilage i know, on a sunday morning when all is quiet i can hear the bikes from my house, its about 2 miles away. Whats it like?

I've always been led to believe that, in addition to the potential clutch problems, you shouldn't use car oils in bikes with combined engine/gearboxes as the action of the gears breakes down the molecule chains in the oil leading to excessive wear. Anyone else heard this?

i neva been phillis i only just started takin my bike offroad the last 6 month or so as it was supermoto if u youtube armthorpe mx tack there is some very good vids looks very good, want to go some time soon they also have enduro track too £25 in

Ill go take a look noodles and report back. My mates have been keen on trying it so no excuses

low emission means it has less of the good stuff in it ( zinc and phosphorus )
something to with particle filters in diesel engines

energy conserving is bad for clutches

ok m8 give us a shout if u wanna go when its abit dryer but it is ment to have a drainage system not sure
