Shagged Cam Follower Bearings

Well, my 2001 fe650 is now in the basement for winter maintenance and upgrades. I had a tough time getting the valves adjusted this summer And never did get it starting on the button.
Ive found the cam follower bearings to be in bad shape. Could this have been my valve adjustment and electric start issues?
Also, do people send their rockers out for this? And if so, to who? Motorcycle mechanic or is this a machinist job?
Is this Something I can do myself? Pretty much the only thing I haven't done on this engine is split the cases.
The winter plan is to get the bike going on the button, send the clutch out to EFM for an auto clutch conversion and put a left hand rear brake on the magura clutch cylinder.

Thanks
K

Have a look in the owners docs K,
it's a simple enough job, you pretty much just need a vice and a centre punch.

Hi

You can do it, just take care when you punch it so you don't close the gap too much. The axial play of the followers should be 0,3 - 0,5 mm.

If you send me your mail I will send you the repair manual.
