sem stator probs?

not had much time to play on bike for a while ,last time out on trackday i snapped kickstart shaft so i got one and a new sprag clutch so just today i put them in and finished fitting enduro wheels
yahoo time to play

2nd kick it fired and then cut out -----no spark

ive got no reading at all on red/black ohms test and 6v on cranking

is it knackered
ive just shut garage and left it :(
 
oh dear jonnieboy,
Doesn't sound good.
Have you taken the stator out and given it a good clean (got rid of all the rust due to all the damp conditions of late).
Did you disconnect it from the connectors then test, proving your kill switch etc. isn't faulty.
Check with the expected readings from The Doc and re-test. If nowhere near .... new SEM required.
If no cracks, you could consider getting it repaired by 'sparks' - browse one of the many previous posts titled SEM.

kill switch jammed in by the clutch cylinder?

get a multimeter and check it out fella or simply get on and do a swop?

What do you mean if there are no cracks ?, cracks or no cracks it doesn't make any difference to them being rewound. Where they crack this is where I part the ignition coils from the charge coils when reassembled all is re-encapsulated.

I presumed that if the outer casing of the SEM was cracked, there would be no point in re-winding onto that.

Hi Ady,

Who's been for Spanish lessons then!! no from one Yorkshire man to another originally from Bradford, as long as I have stator to rewind it's not a problem, on some I remove the black potting around where the leads come out and replace it with the stuff I use. This stuff doesn't crack it's very stable to temperature hot or cold this is what is was designed for and it keeps out the H2o 100%.

Do you know what it costs P&P ?
And what a typical re-wind costs ?
Mine's on its way i think and Jonnieboys sounds like his has maybe gone as well !!
