That is sad.
One thing is sure that he said that his coil only had 5 wires, mine has 7 wires. He said that he doesn't have a e-starter only kickstart. Is it possible that my coil can work on that bike? I mean as far as giving spark to the spark plug?
But if your asking if the mkI can be rewinded to the mkII specs, the answer is yes.
But if you are suggesting to put one mkI stator rewounded to mkII specs, working on a 98 engine, I can't answer that, because the sense of the rotation of the flywheel in relation to the stator.
Maybe Kris can answer that ??? Maybe he can make a custom rewound ??? It's too much for me
the external pre 1998 flywheels and the internal flywheels ('98 to '03) have the magnets on the opposite sides to each other from TDC so you can't swop that.
you can rewind a Mk1 to Mk3 (here we call it a Mk3 because KTM have one in between the Husaberg specs) but it then needs the correct later black coil.
all the coils are wound the wrong way so it is a massive effort. better to get a KTM stator and modify that as the spools of copper wire are ready to work "the wrong way"!
