Hi,
I have just finished the rebuild of my 1992 FE350 I have good compression the valve timing seems right, set up at tdc with both cam lobes facing down. I installed the stator coil with the single point to the top and the timing marks to the bottom right. when i kick the bike over with the spark plug out of the motor and earthed on the frame i get good spark it seems that the suppressor may be suspect as I do feel a shock through it. I do get nice fat blue sparks but there seem to be more than the turns of the motor. any advice will be appreciated. when the plug is in the motor i dont get anything not even a backfire. The bike ran a big end 10+ years ago I modified the rod and had a new pin made.

you should have a new plug as well.

try and put a strobe on the HT lead and hold the trigger on. when you kick. if it flashes you have a spark going to at least the cap.

set the stator halfway along its adjustment.

can't think of much else except to check the cap with a multimeter as well of course?

regards

Taffy

thanks I will do that, The spark seems good but I have had a cdi pack up on one of my two strokes before where it just sparked continuously but that was a dull spark. normally SEM an MOTOPLAT just stop working altogether and are sensitive to earth issues so I removed the powder coating off the frame at the front engine mounts as well as the coil mounting. I will check again in the morning.

Have you tried a Husaberg, KTM or Husqvarna dealer? From the Munn Racing online parts fiche it looks like 2 colors might still be available. I think all of the shrouds from 89-99 are basically the same except the color. The 1999 color has been discontinued.

Here is how to look up parts for your old Berg, see if they might still be available and how much they cost:

Obtain the part number in the appropriate year parts manual from the Husaberg site HUSABERG Pure Enduro - Older Documents or this site Service Manuals - Husaberg Forum

Go to the Munn Racing website Munn Racing

Choose the Husaberg microfiche

The fiche only goes back to 2004 so use the search button to hunt for older model parts. That brings you to the Husaberg / Husqvarna OEM parts database.

Oftentimes you will need to experiment as finding parts with the old Husaberg part numbers can be difficult . Parts with a KTM part number are much easier to find.

First try the old Husaberg part number leaving out the dashes between numbers AND add an H before you type in that part number.

If you don't get a hit try leaving off 1-3 numbers off of the end of the part number.

Try both "Starts With" and "Contains".

The search window above the Husaberg /Husqvarna window is the KTM parts search that is always there so you can try the part number there too but I don't think it works with original Husaberg part numbers.

Typing in a H before the part number without a space is the key to getting a hit.

Once you get the correct part number and confirm it is still available place your order from your favorite dealer or order online.

Don't get too excited as many parts that are still listed have been discontinued. I don't think anyone has or will be updating the database much from here on out.

Taffmeisters Taffmeisters - Husaberg, KTM, Husqvarna, Gas Gas, dirt bikes - servicing, tuning, rebuilds, parts specializes in obsolete / discontinued Husaberg parts so there is hope.

Hi Chris, could you post some pictures of the bike please? I would love to see her completely assembled.

I believe that you got the bike that I wanted to buy... I'm still sad that I let that one slip through my fingers...

I also believe that that bike is one of very few pre-1995 HusaberGs in the country, as the only pre-95 BerG's had to be privately imported into the country. I think Vic Miles only started importing them after '95.
