SEM conversion to kokusan?

Hi guys, I am wondering if you could exhange the SEM system to a newer kokusan without to much of a modification? Would like som eaiser starting and improved functioning

Hribman did it, you can check his gallery. It did work and then failed because the stator was off-center. He basically had a steel plate cut and inserted between the flywheel compartment and the stator cover from a KTM, and that's how he could use a Kokusan stator.

I talked to BOSS about it, since he has parts machined for the Berg, like his rad guars, but he did not think it could be financially viable.

Now if you know a good CNC machinist who can precision engineer something, then you are more than welcome, my friend, but overall it would prove more expansive than regularly buyin a new stator every now and then.

Advantage would be more amps and more reliability, plus easier to start pre-04 Bergs.

Havnt SEM Stopped Making These Stators? Might Be Worth It Now?

I actually do know a guy that does precision engineering :D But as you say it sounds rather difficult to do.

Do you have any advice on what kind of battery I should use to get the most juice out of the electrics as possible? I really would like to get my electric starter to work. Not that I would ever use it, I just want to know that my bike is at it's best :p

They are rated at 310 cca for the first 5 seconds then drop to 100cca. The stock battery is 60 cca so ya win all round.

First news and why would they? They break a lot and there are still a lot of bikes running them.

I read it's only rated for 100 CCA (COLD cranking amp), while the YTZ7S gives you 130 CCA.

Now, it may be good battery for the 04-on but it's longer by one inch.

This is an old thread but I've been wondering if any new products were available to assist the FE-501 with starting easier? I'm finding the kick start getting tougher at the track and am trying to find a way to convert the re-starter to just be a regular electric start like on my DRZ400SM. Hopefully somebody can help me out. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
