Seized

i think my 650 motor was around the 35 kilo mark , i cant remember the exact weight as it was years ago .

Weighed mine on bathroom scales when i got it back and it weighed in at 30kg spot on ...

Carl im sure he'll replace timing chain whilst its open (he did with mine) which will add more to the cost. I'd be surprised if it was 300 quid for it all as he said i was amazingly lucky as my mains jammed solid preventing any further damage .... Like i got away with the bare minimum damage possible from a seize ! I may be wrong however ...
hope it all goes ok either way m8

Thanks, got the engine out this afternoon. Only took me about 1 1/2 hours to get it out which I was happy with. All by myself as well. I've phoned Dave and will probably drive it down when I get chance as its looking cheaper and I know it gets there safe then. I will probably ask for the cam chain to be done just for peace of mind.

Well, got the engine there Saturday and they stripped it down today. Its the main bearings that have gone. The bloke I bought it off has put it together wrong with the wrong shims meaning there was a lot of pressure on the bearing. Luckily there is not too much damage at all.

Also, the wrong drive shaft bearing or something was fitted but that hasn't caused any problems but has been changed. Other than that its having a new cam chain and a new top ring. He says the piston is fine and the oil ring is too.

It will be back together by tonight and then I need to pick it up and put it back in the bike.

Thanks for all your help, Carl
