Scotts vs. GPR

I am toying with the idea of the GPR V2.0 or the Scotts sub mount stabilizer. The main problem I have with GPR is the damping away from and back to center. The free damping back to center makes more sense to me. The main problem I have with Scotts is the price! Who runs which and what do you have to say about them?

The other observation being the best enduro riders in the world come from Europe and nearly none, if any, run steering dampers.

Hello There
I have been running a Scotts sub mount on my 04 FE550 for quite awhile. I like the inch it raises my bars and am convinced it has saved my butt from a few potentially nasty crashes. I also believe that it has paid for itself by saving me in medical bills. Riding in Baja my pin sliped down and I noticed a huge difference in loss of stability immediately. The difference was huge in the sandy whoops. Yeah, its a little ridicuously priced, and you dont need it, but I am not an Enduro champ or anything close and need all the help I can get. I would recommend it.

My two cents,

I don't know a whole lot about the gpr damper, other than what you have stated.

What I can tell you is that I have been using the same Scott's damper since about 1999. I have changed the oil in it twice. The only other thing I did to it was to reverse the arm when I went to the sub mount.

The Scott's damper is very adjustable, high and low speed damping, and the degree's of damping as well.

I played around with the high speed setting, but, found the stock setting to be the best. I run the low speed setting at 1 &1/2 turns out in the slow tight stuff, and when the terrain opens up I run 1 turn out. I think the suggested setting on the low speed is 3/4 of a turn out to 1 turn out.

dale speaks the truth , i am new to the damper scene ... but i will tell you they are the ducks guts , the top of the wazza , the kreem of the crop , the top of the food chain , i have had some '' incidents '' occur whilst on board and this device has saved me from much pain .

i will fit them to my dirt bikes from now on !

scotts damper , reverse mounted .

I have the Scotts unit and it has helped a few times when I tagged a tree unexpectedly. I'm sure if I took it off I'd notice the difference in all situations. I run it at one turn out all the time, with the damping set for full sweep.

I try to stay away from sites like brp, its like billet ****. I just keep going back to gauk, knowing i'll never have anything that. Its not reality. :eep:

Seriously, the scotts will be a killer addition for the california desert. I have also checked out emig racing's site but its worse than brp's....gorgeous products. I would buy his stabilizer and triple clamp setup with an unlimited budget.

If your in Australia we can now supply Emig Racing Products, the pricing is very good but the product is even better! You contact me at the store on 02 47311173 or PM me and I'll get back to you.
Best Regards
Sutto

I have a scotts on my HP2 and a gpr on my R6 race bike, the scotts is the better unit and offers more adjustability including adjusting the sweep range. The gpr is a basic unit and will do the job if it's just to take the sting out the sandy bits, but if you are looking for the full monty then go the scotts.
