Personally, I hope he gets close to the price he's asking I just don't see it. There's been a plated FS450c on CL and the Bay Area Riders forum with a load of extras for 4200 . . . for over 6 months. Not a lot of interest in the Bergs due to their discontinuation. A bike from a Dead company + reliability reputation + high maintenance frequency = low resale value. It's a niche market for those willing to suffer (?) the realities of owning a racebike with signals. Look at the Aprilia SXV values (12k out the door - hard to sell for more than 4k). Component wise, hard to match for those numbers. Again, I hope I'm wrong and he gets his price, but . . .
If it was a Ca. factory plated 08 Husaberg FS650 then yeah, I would say in the 5s. But its not. Its from Oregon as its said and a Ca. Red Sticker bike originally but a converted plate I guess. I wouldn't feel comfortable buying it. In fact I would rather buy a Ca factory plated 05 FS650 for peace of mind. And a bike in the good years at that. With Husaberg your waiting for buyers as it is because few are believers. The ones who know how awesome they can be are few. So the bike doesn't sell well unless the price keeps dropping and you get a newby owner who is about to learn about them.
I got $4600 for my highly modded Ca. plated 05 FE650 last year to a newby.
I also saw a tricked out Ca. plated 05 FS650 drop down to $4500.
If this 08 sells for over $5000 in Ca. I would consider it a good sale.
The 08 is an awesome bike but remember, this is basically an enduro with supermoto wheels.
You can see by the forks. I spent quite a bit on my 06 full conversion.
Supermoto forks and shock (1 inch shorter with valving)
Beringer FTE radial caliper setup with master and lever. (ebay but still expensive).
16/18mm offset billet oem triple clamps.
So its still pretty far off from being a true FS. Just saying
